The “Hustle” ethic and a REAL day

SO TIRED!

So, I often get asked, “How do you manage to go to the gym, fit everything into your day, have a wonderful family, dress so stylishly, hustle so much and look so good?”*

You read a lot of stuff like this across all forms of social media and typically the article reads like a list of unobtainable and/or unsustainable segments that add up to a very successful person. 99% of the time this isn’t true but, we know that right?

Let me tell you what MY weekday typically looks like…

4:30am; Wake up and decide that I am not getting back to sleep, 1st breakfast and a good 1/2 litre of water. Read and generally plan my day. I would LOVE to be able to sleep until 8am but my body clock seems to run on another timezone. A “lie-in” for me is 7am!

5:30am: 2 year old wakes so second breakfast and a good 45 mins playtime with a very energetic child!

6:30am: Arrive at the gym having consumed my magic potion** and generally destroy myself for 90 minutes.

8:30am: Arrive at the office, drink a LOT of water, read emails, do a bit of study and get the TODO list set up.

9:00am: Realise that there is a LONG day ahead, 1st coffee*** (repeat every hour or so).

You know what, after that, it’s generally trying to get stuff done (like 99% of people) whilst trying to avoid succumbing to the overwhelming desire to take a nap because I wake up so gosh-darn early!

5.00pm-7:00pm: Cardio (AKA chasing my two boys around until I surrender or they go to bed)

9:30m: Retire for the day. Yes, bed at 9:30pm! #LivingTheDream

That’s no recipe for success but it IS my recipe for survival lol.

Don’t try to be someone else, don’t try to imitate a projected “excellence” just do the best you can in your situation. Life’s too short to waste it trying to be someone else’s “perfection”.

What about your day?

*Not really
