Beyond AI….
It is always difficult to predict what the next big thing in computing technology will be unless you are MAKING it. It is however always fun, sometimes scary but never dull to gaze beyond the current “new” and consider what will be built on the shoulders of the giants of tech as of 2023.
As we sit at the base of what feels like a mountain of awesome, ground-breaking and perhaps worrying developments in technology over the next 10 years I’d like to look further forward, after artificial intelligence (AI) and Quantum Computing (QC) and their inevitable merging becomes more mainstream and consider what might come to pass based on what is currently being theorised and investigated.
Neuromorphic Computing
First on my list is Neuromorphic computing. This basically involves creating (or having them created for us by ASI) computing systems that are inspired by, modelled from and lean into the structure and function of the human brain such as we are able to comprehend it as a Quantum type computer. Neuromorphic computers could potentially be more efficient and powerful than traditional computers and, as they would be self-improving they will continue to improve on their own efficiency.
